โBe careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.โ
Philippians 4:6โ7
Reflection
Paul wrote Philippians from prison, which makes his command "be anxious for nothing" all the more remarkable. He had discovered a peace that defied circumstances โ not because his problems were solved, but because he had learned to transfer them to God in prayer with a spirit of thanksgiving. The peace that results is described as a garrison, a military guard, standing watch over heart and mind.
Today's Prayer
โFather, I bring every anxious thought to You now with thanksgiving โ guard my heart with Your surpassing peace.โ
