Reflection
Paul grounds the command to forgive in the reality of having been forgiven. We do not forgive because the other person deserves it; we forgive because Christ forgave us when we did not deserve it. Unforgiveness is a chain that locks the past into the present — forgiveness is the key that opens the door to freedom, for us as much as for the one we forgive.
