“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:7
Reflection
The Greek word for "cheerful" here is hilaros — the root of our word hilarious. God is not looking for reluctant compliance in our giving; He is looking for joy. When we understand how lavishly we have received — grace, forgiveness, life itself — generosity becomes a natural overflow rather than a reluctant obligation. Giving is one of the most tangible ways we reflect God's own character.

Today's Prayer
“Father, make me a joyful giver today — let gratitude for Your generosity loosen my hands toward others.”
