“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight... and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”
Hebrews 12:1–2
Reflection
The writer imagines a stadium filled with every faithful person who has gone before us — Abraham, Moses, Ruth, David, and thousands more — watching as we run our leg of the race. Their example is not a guilt trip but an encouragement: if they endured, so can we. And we run not by looking at the crowd but by fixing our gaze on Jesus, who both mapped the course and already crossed the finish line.
Today's Prayer
“Jesus, fix my eyes on You today as I run my race — let me lay down every weight and press forward in faith.”
