“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”

Reflection
Peter wrote to scattered believers who felt marginalized and forgotten, and he reminded them of who they actually were: chosen, royal, holy, God's treasured possession. Identity shapes behavior — when we know we belong to the King, we stop living as orphans scrambling for approval. The purpose of this identity is outward-facing: to declare the praises of the One who brought us from darkness into His astonishing light.
