Reflection
John opens his Gospel with a declaration of cosmic victory: the Light came into the darkness, and the darkness could not overcome it. The Greek word for "comprehended" also means "extinguished" — darkness cannot put out the Light. Whatever feels like darkness in your life today — grief, confusion, failure — it does not have the power to extinguish the presence of Christ. Light always wins.
