Reflection
Paul calls God the "Father of mercies" — as if mercy is so characteristic of Him that it is part of His family name. The comfort He gives us in our hardships is not wasted; it becomes the exact comfort we are equipped to pass on to someone else in the same valley. Your suffering is not pointless — it is preparation for ministry to others.
